Capturing the magic of a wedding is always a beautiful experience...but when the couple includes one of your best friends, it transforms into something truly unforgettable.

I had the honour of photographing the wedding of Sarah and Mackenzie in August, a couple I have had the joy of watching fall in love. As both a friend and a photographer, this was a beautiful blend of professional passion and personal happiness (seriously, I couldn't keep the tears back from behind the lens). I put pressure on myself because I wanted these photographs to be as beautiful as the couple, and to give them something they can look back on forever with joy.

Sarah and Mackenize had an intimate wedding with close friends and family — including their adorable pup! From the heartfelt (and tearful) vows and the private moments to the fun dancing and signature shots, I’m overwhelmed by how special it was to witness and capture the love and happiness that radiated throughout their wedding. They celebrated under the tall trees, in a venue that truly embodies the feeling of sanctuary and peace only 1 hour outside of Edmonton, Alberta. The couple are fond of the outdoors, and they instantly knew this was where they were meant to host their wedding. Their love is truly infectious, and within minutes of knowing them, you can see the understanding and kindness they have for each other.

One unique detail that I loved included the couple sneaking off to have a private moment with a cake for them to share. They requested that I wear earplugs, so they could keep the moment as honest, vulnerable and authentic as possible between the two of them. How cute is that?

Join me as I share the highlights and behind-the-scenes glimpses of a wedding that was not just an incredible moment for Sarah and Mackenzie, but a wedding I will cherish forever.
